   Clay Meditation

 My name is Ursula Kaplowitz.

           I have been a professional potter and sculptor for  
26 years, have taught children and adults for 17 years and
am myself the mother of three. While nurturing each student's
unique individuality I love to help them make beautiful
and fun pottery.  It is my sincere wish to keep my studio
a peaceful space where young and adult students can
relax and enjoy the process of working with clay!
 

    In my own work I create unique functional pottery on the potter's
wheel or by hand building from porcelain and white stoneware clays.
It is for sale directly from my studio. Many pieces are one of a kind
and made to order. I formulate a variety of different colored
glazes and fire all my pottery to 2200 degrees F.

Life patterns my clay.

  My designs are inspired by nature and my own spiritual journey. 
I use leaves, blossoms or sea shells to print on the clay and then
let it become new life forms.  Weaving baskets and carving silhouettes
in candle holders are two of my specialties.  Sculpted frogs or birds
bring life to my birdbaths.  
I love to let my work reflect my faith and prayers.
